Validator causing EditCommandColumn buttons to not work

It worked fine with me, but I didn't use MsgBox.
Instead, I used Trace.Write("msg").

Hmmmm. Thanks for running on your machine. Good to know that its probably not the immediate code.

I'm still having the same issue though whether I use "trace" or "msgbox". The Update and Cancel buttons don't even fire their events (or so it seems) when I'm in edit mode.

This is driving me crazy -- and its only compounded by the fact that someone else isn't able to replicate it. Is it possible that it's got smoething to do with my setup? I'm using WebMatrix on Windows 2000 OS on an 800MHz 256M RAM machine... .Net Framework is 1.1.
